Each knife blade and the sharpener are marked "Wingfield & Rowbotham & Co., Tenter Street, Sheffield". The oak box measures 7 1/2" by 17 1/2" by 2" tall and has its original lining of blue velvet and gathered silk. The lining in the box is marked Wade Wingfield & Rowbotham Co.. Wade Wingfield & Robotham Co. only did business from 1833 until 1852. Possibly, the set was inscribed and given as a gift years after it was made. Whatever the case, this is an incredible display piece.
